Marine Iguana Fun Fact: A fun fact about the marine iguana is that it’s the only lizard in the world that can forage for food in the ocean! Native to the Galápagos Islands, these iguanas dive into the sea to graze on algae, sometimes holding their breath for up to 30 minutes. To survive in the cold waters, they have special glands that expel excess salt from their bodies, often giving them a distinctive “sneeze” after returning to land.
