Japanese spider crab facts: A fun fact about the Japanese spider crab is that it has the longest leg span of any arthropod in the world! The legs of this giant crab can reach up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) from claw to claw, while its body size is relatively small in comparison, about 1.5 feet (45 cm) across. Despite their intimidating appearance, Japanese spider crabs are generally gentle creatures that live in the deep waters off the coast of Japan.
