Aardvark Fun Fact: A fun fact about the aardvark is that its name comes from the Afrikaans/Dutch word “aarde” meaning “earth,” and “vark” meaning “pig,” so it literally means “earth pig.” However, aardvarks aren’t related to pigs at all—they are more closely related to elephants!
